We, Papag.ai, a UK-registered company (company number: 16915053), are building an intelligent companion that reads your PDF STEM textbooks, lecture notes and academic papers alongside you. Of course, these days you can ask an LLM to help you. But the LLM is not reading the book with you. It doesn't know where examples are introduced, where concepts are defined or theorems are proven. AI Math Tutor does. It can search the index, look at the table of contents and read relevant chapter parts to find appropriate material to help you understand your learning materials better. It also knows about the book and your difficulties in understanding it, so can tailor its explanations to the complexity of the material and your current level of understanding.

• Stuck on a step in a theorem? Ask the AI and it will explain how the author got to this point from the previous material (e.g. definitions and theorems) and will refresh your memory of any concepts you keep forgetting.
• Forgot a definition? The AI checks the index and previous chapters to find where it was introduced and gives you the book's specific definition. Not what the LLM has learned from its training.

How it works

We use advanced multimodal models to "see" the page exactly as you do, recognising complex mathematical notation and diagrams. We combine this with a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system and AI agents to enable the AI to understand the material and explain it to you like someone who has not only read the book but has tutored you before.
